FDA: Chantix and Zyban anti-smoking drugs need warning

smoking-picU.S. health officials said on Wednesday they ordered Pfizer Inc and GlaxoSmithKline PLC to add strong “black box” warnings on smoking cessation drugs to highlight a risk of serious mental health problems including suicidal thoughts. The warnings must be added to Pfizer’s Chantix and Glaxo’s Zyban, the Food and Drug Administration said in a statement.

Well it is finally happening. The FDA is finally in reality that most of the folks out there taking this drug have other health issues. Its about time. Someone needs to wake the FDA before they release a drug that can do more damage than good.

Folks…I hate to tell you this but it really is better to go Cold Turkey and just not want it anymore than to take a drug that can do more damage than Lung Cancer.

My Prayers are with all of you that have taken Chantix. Maybe the FDA will find a way to fix all of our issue associated with taking Chantix.

I took this drug, Chantix, 2 years ago and my life has never been the same. I blacked out once, and thereafter my legs were impaired. In addition, I feel stoned much of the time. I now walk with a cane. I have lost 60 lbs. and my energy level is very low. I don’t enjoy eating anymore. I cannot believe what this drug has done to me. I have no history of mental illness. Now, struggling with this for two years, seeing 8 doctors (4 neurologist) cat scans, MRI’s and every test under the sun, they can find nothing. Am I destined to live the rest of my life this way?
I cannot believe they STILL HAVE THIS DRUG ON THE MARKET!

I’ve heard of some nasty stories about people who took Chantix, I can’t believe how this garbage was made legal in the first place. Sell it to the people, pull it back, and no takes the blame. How wonderful.

I took Chantix for 2 weeks. Smoked on it the first week, the second week quit smoking and then decided I was over the physical addiction and I didn’t need the pills anymore so I stopped. ( Yes, I only took Chantix for 2 weeks total.) I have been smoke free for over a year now, and I was an over a pack a day smoker. I had no withdrawal, dreams, suicide thoughts, blackouts, depression…and so on.

I personally feel that if you have mental issues, or are predisposed towards mental issues you might have problems on Chantix, but if you are strong of mind and body, you wont.

So make sure you have your head on straight before you take it.

Thanks Chantix for my smoke free life and my 10.00+ per day savings at 8.50 per pack! Whooo Hooo!

that is the right thing to do. As we can see, the Government is still taking efforts in order to gain trust from the public in relation to product recall.
