Tylenol Products Recalled

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, which makes Tylenol pain relief drugs, says it is recalling a number of lots of its Tylenol products as well as some lots of Sinutab, Benadryl, and Sudafed PE because the medications were made at a plant where production was suspended in April 2010. McNeil says in a news release posted on the FDA’s web site that the recalled products were made in a Fort Washington, Pa., plant that was closed because of concerns about equipment cleaning procedures.

J&J recalls more Tylenol, over-the-counter drugs

Johnson & Johnson recalled more Tylenol and other over-the-counter drugs on Thursday after they were linked to a musty or moldy odor, expanding a recall the company started in January. J&J’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit said the latest recall involved 21 lots of medications, including Tylenol for children and adults, several forms of Benadryl allergy tablets and Motrin painkiller.

Tylenol Recall Broadens; Includes Extra Strength, Benadryl

A Tylenol recall issued last year by the Johnson & Johnson unit of McNeil Consumer Healthcare because of chemical contamination has been expanded for a second time to include Benadryl Allergy Ultratablets and Extra Strength Tylenol. The latest recall includes four lots of Benadryl Allergy Ultratab tablets in 100 count bottles sold in the U.S. with lot numbers AJA008, ADA194, ABA022 and ABA264, and one lot of Tylenol Extra Strength Rapid Release Gel Cap with lot number ASA202.

Johnson & Johnson Widens Tylenol Recall to Other Brands

Johnson & Johnson on Friday said it was expanding its recall of lots of its pain reliever Tylenol to include such other popular over-the-counter brands such as Benadryl, Motrin, and Rolaids. The company said it was recalling specifics lots of the products because of reports that they smell musty. Some users of the suspect products have also reported developing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. No serious medical reactions have been reported. The latest recall covers certain lots and formulations of the following medications: Junior Strength Motrin IB, Children’s Tylenol Meltaways, Benadryl, Extra Strength Tylenol, Extra Strength Tylenol Rapid Release, Motrin IB, Regular Strength Tylenol, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, St. Joseph Aspirin, Tylenol Arthritis, and Tylenol PM.
