Johnson & Johnson pays $600 K to settle first hip implant lawsuits

Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay approximately $600,000 to settle the first three hip replacement lawsuits brought against the company, according to people familiar with the settlement. The company is facing more than 8,000 lawsuits alleging that its DePuy ASR hip replacement system failed at higher than expected rates, causing severe injuries.
