25 Zoloft lawsuits pending in Texas

At least 25 Zoloft birth defect lawsuits are pending in the state of Texas, with dozens more throughout the country. The Zoloft lawsuits allege that the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SSRI) increased the risk of severe birth defects among children born to women who used the drug during pregnancy.

Johnson & Johnson to settle 8,000 DePuy hip replacement lawsuits

Johnson & Johnson announced that it would settle roughly 8,000 DePuy ASR hip replacement lawsuits filed against the company. Lawyers estimated the settlement could exceed $2.5 billion, or about $250,000 per patient.

Federal Court Stryker Hip Claims Near 400

According to court documents, there are nearly 400 Stryker hip replacement claims pending in federal court in Minnesota. The federal consolidation was formed only six months ago and legal experts believe that additional lawsuits against hip manufacturers Stryker Corporation are to be expected.

Risk of Bristol Diabetes Pill May Outweigh Heart Benefits

The cancer and liver toxicity risks of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY) and AstraZeneca Plc (AZN)’s diabetes medicine may outweigh any benefit the drug has on the heart, U.S. regulators said.

Judge sets timeline for GranuFlo lawsuit fact sheets

Judge Douglas P. Woodlock has set a timeline for plaintiff fact sheets to be submitted in the bellwether GranuFlo lawsuits. Plaintiffs were required to submit their information by November 27, 2013, and defendants must submit their fact sheets by January 31, 2014.

Johnson & Johnson Lost or Destroyed Transvaginal Mesh Files, Lawyers Contend

Officials of Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon unit, which made the company’s Gynecare Prolift transvaginal mesh implant, lost or disposed of potentially hundreds of thousands of documents over a decade even though they were ordered by executives to preserve them, attorneys for women who blame the devices for their injuries said in a court filing in West Virginia Dec. 2.

Johnson & Johnson Agrees to $2.47 Billion Settlement for DePuy Hip Implant Lawsuits

The DePuy Orthopaedics division of Johnson & Johnson has agreed to pay at least $2.47 billion to settle thousands of DePuy ASR hip replacement lawsuits, according to an article published in the New York Times. The settlement agreement would resolve approximately 8,000 DePuy hip replacement lawsuits.
