BioMet UK reveals safety concern over its medical device

BioMet UK has issued a warning to surgeons not to perform surgery for its knee replacement medical device after discovering the components do not fit together. The company said that if a surgeon were to begin surgery with the device, it would not be able to be completed.

British medical device company Smith & Nephew has recalled the cup component of its R3 Acetabular System, a type of metal-on-metal hip replacement. The recall comes after the company received a higher than normal number of complaints from patients who received the device.
